Liverpool and Everton played out a sullen stalemate at Anfield as they drew 0-0 in the 220th Merseyside derby.
The insipid game went some way to showing that without Luis Suarez the Reds looks toothless and Brendan Rodgers’ decision to bring on Martin Skrtel for Stewart Downing late on showed their lack of ambition as the season comes to a close.
And there was to be no fairytale win for Jamie Carragher, playing in his final derby before retirement, although as a Toffees fans he will at least be content.
