Kenny Dalglish believes that Steven Gerrard could still recover and play well for the team practiced.
Skipper team's home city of Merseyside has been pulled from the core team since last March because of injury. Dalglish did not want to take risks with Gerrard playing before recovering his physical condition, so as not to make the captain's back injury.
"If you have got someone like Steven in your squad, it is going to raise the profile and the standard," Dalglish said.
"We want to have a really strong squad and his being in makes it much stronger.
