Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has explained that the club’s Europa League clash against Zenit St. Petersburg at Anfield made him feel like a real Reds manager.
Rodgers’ men could not overturn a 2-0 defeat from the first leg of their Europa League tie in Russia, but put in a valiant effort on home soil, beating the Russian champions 3-1, but ultimately crashing out on away goals.
And that experience gave Rodgers a real taste of European football at Anfield.
"I really felt like the Liverpool manager after the Zenit game, having experienced a European night" , he explained to his club’s official site.
