Jordan Henderson has revealed his pain at being told he could leave Anfield last summer just a year after signing for the club but is happy to be back in the fold.
Henderson, 22, was offered the chance to join Fulham in August but chose to stay on at Liverpool and fight for his place in the team.
"I wasn't playing regularly back in August so they gave me the option to go," Henderson told MailOnline. "It wasn't a nice thing to hear but I had to take it on the chin. I said no. I didn't want to go anywhere. I certainly didn't want to leave after a year.
"I came to Liverpool wanting to stay here for the rest of my career."
Henderson had to wait until November 25 last year for his first start under Brendan Rodgers but has since found himself back in the side and scoring goals - his latest the second in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Rodgers even publically excluded Henderson from a public dressing down of his young players in the wake of the 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Oldham in which he started.
"What he did was good man management and it has given us all the kick up the backside we needed. He was right to say what he said and that goes for the whole team and not just certain individuals," Henderson said.
"This season the gaffer told me what he wanted from me, what I needed to improve and I took it on board. He's been brilliant, the advice he has given me."
