Wearside woe for Reds

Liverpool were unable to close the gap on fourth place after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Following a first half of few chances, the Black Cats scored the game's only goal 11 minutes into the second period. Fraizer Campbell's shot from the edge of the area hit the post before striking the woodwork again off the back of Pepe Reina. However, Nicklas Bendtner was on hand to turn the loose ball into the net.
